INSTALLATION STORY – GOVERNMENT
The Ayes Have It
The Hallowed Halls, but Not Walls
The prestigious, marbled-walls and ornate decorations of the Washington State Senate chamber, which is in a campus of state government buildings in Olympia, Washington, presented a problem to Rainier Integrated Systems Northwest, Kirkland, Washington (Cameron Nicol, integrator representative). They really couldn’t install any type of projection screen. The solution was to mount two SANYO PLC-XF47 projectors 40’ above the floor of the senate chamber in the “attic” and have them project through 5” diameter holes in the plaster wall.
The projected images from the PLC-XF47s went approximately 65’ across the chamber onto the opposite painted wall (no screen). Because of the brightness and control adjustments of the projectors, the images appear almost as precise as if they were projecting onto respective screens. The images are primarily used to display legislative bill information, but they are also used for a variety of other electronic source inputs (computer, TV, component and composite). The state feels these displays have dramatically increased the quality and versatility of the content shown. The displayed information is used to facilitate the legislative process and the creation of laws for Washington State.
State of Benefits
It is reported that the SANYO large venue projectors are working wonderfully and exceeding the project goals and expectations. The crystal clarity of content, given the distance of projection, the versatility in adjustments and source inputs, fulfilled all performance goals and beyond. “This custom installation and use of our work application was uncharted ground in the legislative world of audio/video technology,” said Rick Scott of Pancor Marketing (SANYO sales representative).
Future plans call for the installation of a matrix switcher to allow the state to display multiple sources simultaneously on all four display areas in the chamber.
