Chatsworth, CA, December 1, 2009 – SANYO North America Corporation (SANYO), today introduces the Air Washer PlusTM, a home-use air purification system, the first of its kind in the U.S., that uses electrolyzed water technology to treat the air to suppress airborne pathogens such as bacteria and germs, to reduce the amount of airborne pollen and allergy-causing dust, and to eliminate unpleasant odors in the home. The system’s electrolyzed water technology works in tandem with the HEPA filter, allowing the maximum amount of cleansing power possible, effectively “cleaning the air with the power of water”TM.
Air Washer Plus will be available online at SANYOStore.com and at select national and regional retailers that focus on creating healthier home environments, beginning early December, 2009, with a suggested retail price of $249.99.
“SANYO has provided numerous products using its unique electrolyzed water technology dating back to 1987, but this is the first air treatment product SANYO has introduced to the U.S. for home use,” said Tom Van Voy, General Manager of the Consumer Products Group for SANYO North America. “Electrolyzed water technology has proven effective in safely suppressing various bacteria and germs, not to mention the benefits in air treatment eliminating unwanted odors and allergens.”
The technology operates by creating electrolyzed water, or combining tap water with electricity, to create two types of active oxygen that work to clean without the requirement for any additional chemicals. Other than its use in air treatment, electrolyzed water has also been used effectively in other industries such as food safety handling, washing raw materials, and cleaning utensils.
The electrolyzed water technology used in the Air Washer Plus has undergone testing and proven effective in suppressing airborne germs, bacteria, odors, allergens and mold through global third party certification institutions including testing done for a number of airborne pathogens such as germs, bacteria, allergens and mold by the Research Triangle Institute (RTI), a respected research firm based in North Carolina. In addition to this firm in the U.S., other well-respected institutions around the world have also tested and verified the use of electrolyzed water in SANYO air purification systems.
The high performance 4-stage True HEPA filtration system removes 99.97% of airborne particles and allergens, working together with the electrolyzed water to effectively neutralize odors and eliminate the particles that cause allergies.
Efficient air distribution is another innovative feature of this product. The Air Washer Plus uses a 3-directional air distribution system to maximize the flow of air, which helps to clean all areas of the room. Many air cleaners or purifiers only have one output but the SANYO unit provides air in upward stream, leftward stream, and rightward stream to cover the room.
Simple operation with an automatic timer function and a filter replacement indicator makes the unit easy for consumers to use. The Air Washer Plus is a portable unit that can be moved from room to room.
In addition to the consumer model announced today, SANYO is planning to release a commercial-use version in mid-January to allow air treatment in large public gathering spaces. For more information on the Air Washer Plus and the technology used inside, please visit http://us.sanyo.com.
