Wood Dale, IL, January 5, 2010 – SANYO North America Corporation (SANYO), today announces the launch of its professional Air Washer PlusTM, an air purification system using electrolyzed water technology to treat air to suppress airborne pathogens such as germs and bacteria as well as volatile organic compounds (VOCs), to reduce airborne pollen and allergy-causing dust, and to quickly eliminate unpleasant odors in the office or other public space.
The professional air purification system safely and effectively purifies over 20,000 cu.ft. per hour of indoor air, uses proven electrolyzed water technology, and comes with an automatic salt water dispenser for easy maintenance and efficacy.
The Air Washer Plus employs electrolyzed water technology tested and proven effective in suppressing airborne germs, bacteria, odors, allergens and mold through third party certification institutions including the Research Triangle Institute (RTI), a respected research firm based in North Carolina. The professional-use Air Washer PlusTM uses the electrolyzed water technology to transform ordinary tap water to safely remove airborne pathogens by moving large volumes of air through its cleansing disinfectant element. With the possibility of moving and treating up to 20,000 cubic feet per hour on the highest setting as well as quickly and powerfully treating the air in spaces as large as 1050 sq.ft., the air purification system will complement any classroom, meeting room, office, and other large public gathering space.

SANYO, unlike other air purification system manufacturers, uses electrolyzed water housed in a special ‘disinfectant element’ filter as the purifying agent. This unique use of electrolyzed water not only helps treat the air for the regular allergens, dust and mold, but also helps to suppress VOCs, germs and bacteria that other such units without electrolyzed water are not as able to filter, as well as deodorization and suppressing allergens to keep the air pleasant and safe.
The electrolyzed water used by the system is generated by combining tap water with electricity; creating two types of active oxygen that work to scrub clean the air without requiring any additional or harmful chemicals.
Electrolyzed water has been used for many years in industries such as food processing, water sterilization, hospital and laboratory use, and has been industry-proven for over 20 years. To ensure effective air treatment, the unit comes with a low-maintenance salt water dispenser for consistency in the generation of electrolyzed water. The dispenser is able to provide 6-month or more supply of salt water with the appropriate degree for the electrolyzing process.
Once the water has been electrolyzed, it is circulated through the disinfectant element, a clog-resistant honeycomb filter. Circulated air is then forced through the element containing a constant stream of electrolyzed water, where the airborne pathogens are suppressed, reduced and deodorized.
