SANYO Joins Powerful Line-up Supporting North America’s Largest Professional Solar Training & Business Management Event – Solar Success! Supporting

Not-for-Profit Solar Training Partnership Feeds Hunger for Insights on State-of-the-Art Solar Technologies, Installation Techniques, Funding Strategies To Increase Profitability & Win New Business

SANYO and its expert global solar energy partners are collaborating to present its distributors and prospects with the next generation of powerful, Solar Success! training May 17-22 at the Phoenix Convention Center.  This year’s updated, expanded training comes with a bonus for the industry’s most experienced contractors, developers and installers – a potent curriculum aligned with NABCEP1 learning and certification objectives to help optimize their business successes in today’s increasingly-competitive economy.  It is North America’s largest professional solar training and business management event.

Presented by the non-profit non-American Solar Energy Society (ASES) and underwritten and produced by the global solar experts at Conergy and leading-edge manufacturers like SANYO, the Solar Success! training event features product and technical training from some of the industry’s most renowned manufacturers and distributors, access to leading-edge market research, project financing tips, business development expertise, best practices for sales and marketing success, and insights on rebates, cash grants and installation techniques to help them grow their solar expertise and galvanize their business success.

“This is a unique opportunity to glean a goldmine of useful insights from some of the keenest minds in the industry, while obtaining intelligence on the latest solar technologies, Installation Innovations and business accelerators this burgeoning industry has to offer,” said Jyl Safier, Marketing Director for Conergy, who has partnered with ASES to produce and underwrite Solar Success! training events since their inception three years ago.

“As the line-up we’ve engaged for this event demonstrates, Solar Success!  is the essential training event for busy professionals who want the most effective, bottom-line oriented training for their money,” she added. Conergy’s teams have successfully built a global renewable energy portfolio exceeding 1.25 Gigawatts in cumulative clean energy capacity.

Among the technologies introduced to Solar Success! participants is SANYO’s highly-efficient, HIT® solar cell and module technology, designed to help integrators and installers optimize power-generating capabilities for their customers.

“SANYO’s engineering teams have risen to the challenge of refining the power generating capabilities of solar photovoltaic technologies for nearly four decades,” said Charles Hanasaki, president of SANYO’s Energy USA Solar Division Hanasaki. SANYO PV panels are made of high efficiency hybrid cells that combine amorphous silicon layers deposited on monocrystalline wafers. This technology results in superior performance under cloudy conditions and during the hottest days of the year.

“SANYO’s HIT Double glass-on-glass modules utilize the bifacial characteristics of HIT cells to generate up to 30% more energy from the panel’s back-side, depending on mounting surface conditions,” added Hanasaki.

The ability of HIT cells to produce electricity from incident sunlight makes the HIT Double® panels popular for building-integrated designs like awnings, pergolas and skylights. SANYO’s solar cells are rated at the highest certified level for conversion efficiency, as are their practical-sized panels. SANYO’s silicon ingots and wafers, core materials in the manufacturing of SANYO’s solar cells and modules, are manufactured in the U.S.A at SANYO facilities in Carson, CA and Salem, OR.

This is the second year in a row SANYO has elected to support this critical training event. Solar Success! is a not-for-profit training event and therefore its costs are tax deductible as specified in current tax code.  It is co-located with ASES’ annual Solar Power conference and trade show – now in its 39th year -- so that after training, participants have access to the entire SOLAR 2010 trade show floor, where they can network and take deeper dives into key subject matter with hundreds of industry leaders, including manufacturers, installers, researchers, scientists, engineers, investors, analysts, educators and public officials.

This year’s newly-designed Pro-Track sessions offer participants either a technical or business focus and are lead by the most knowledgeable of industry experts, including senior editors at SolarPro Magazine, Andy Black of OnGrid Solar and the solar-savvy folks at Solar Energy International (SEI).  They are designed to help experienced installers comfortably transition from large residential projects to commercial solar solutions of up to 1 Megawatt in scale.

“The technical program is designed for experienced solar system designers, project managers, engineers, and experienced field technicians seeking to advance their technical skills. It is particularly suited to those working in grid-tie and battery-based residential markets who intend to enter the small-commercial (10 kW-1 MW) market. This training is also tailored to commercial-only electrical contracting businesses,” said Conergy’s Safier. “Pro-Track’s business focus offers a thorough overview of the solar market and its financing mechanisms while providing essential information on how to make a compelling financial case for solar that helps create winning residential and commercial project proposals.”

Last year, 100% of those in attendance and completing an exit survey agreed Solar Success! training was time and money well spent; 94% of the more than 550 in attendance said the event was 94% said the event was of “excellent” or “above average” value and quality in comparison to other training events.  Ninety eight percent agreed Solar Success! training provided valuable information that will help their solar businesses.
