Frequently Asked Questions

General

• Where can I purchase SANYO Batteries?

Now you can buy batteries online, just click the BUY ONLINE button under the product you want. Or check out our Where to Buy section in the navigation bar. It lists stores by battery and accessory category. Be sure to call your local retailer ahead of time to confirm they have the model you need.

• Where can I find SANYO warranty information?

Call our Customer Service line at 800/832-4872.

• What is the difference between rechargeable battery chemistries?

Lithium Ion (Li-Ion) batteries have increased capacity and are very lightweight. They are considered a "smart" battery, which means they can communicate with the charger by letting the charger know when they are fully charged.

Nickel Metal Hydride (Ni-MH) batteries offer high capacity (over twice the amount of Nickel Cadmium (NiCd) batteries), have quick charging capabilities and great reliability. They are especially good for high drain applications like digital cameras.

Nickel Cadmium (Ni-Cd) batteries have a longer cycle life, though shorter run-time than Ni-MH. They are the most cost-effective rechargeables and last up to 1,000 charges. They are hardy and can withstand very low temperatures and rough use. Like all rechargeables, they need to be completely charged before their first use.

Cordless Phone Batteries

• What is the correct replacement battery pack for my cordless phone?

Use our Battery Finder to track down your Cordless Phone battery by Phone or Battery model number. If your battery is not listed, call our Customer Service line at 800/832-4872.

• My old cordless phone battery says 700 mAh and this new SANYO battery says 650 mAh. Is this the right replacement battery?

If the voltage matches, then you have the right battery. The mAh (milli-ampere-hours) is not as important as the voltage. They need to be the same. For the best information, check our Battery Finder and locate a compatible battery.

Battery Charging

• Will my SANYO battery pack be damaged if I leave it in the charger for a long time?

SANYO batteries are manufactured to withstand charger damage. Our chargers are built to manage the charge output for SANYO batteries with a micro controller. The charger controls the charge and will not damage the battery if they are left in the charger. It is always best to use a SANYO charger with SANYO batteries. But if you use another brand of charger, be sure to read your user manual for more details.

• Does a SANYO cigarette lighter adapter charge faster than a desktop charger?

Yes. The cigarette lighter adapter is considered a "rapid charger", and it does charge faster than a desktop charger.

• Will my SANYO cigarette lighter adapter overcharge my SANYO battery?

No. There is a fuse in the charger that prevents too much current from going through the CLA. The circuit board in the battery prevents overcharging. The board will shut the charger down before it can overcharge your battery.

• My SANYO desktop charger is not charging my battery. What do I do?

When you plug the desktop charger into the wall, is the far right light turning green? If it is, then continue with your charging. If not, then there is no power going to the charger.
Make sure your battery is touching all the metal tabs on the charger.
Have you tried charging your phone on another charger? If yes, and it charges, then there is something wrong with the charger. Please return it to:
